As I was monitoring the halls the other day, one student said to me, "Mr. Silvie, are we going to have an honor roll program. I made the honor roll for the first time since I've been here and I just wanted to know."
My response to him was, "Yes."
We should recognize our students for their academic achievement. At the October PTA meeting, I proposed to have in conjunction with the meeting the honors assembly. Since the PTA meets the first Thursday of each month, our honor roll assembly will be Thursday, December 4 at 6:00 p.m. One of my attempts besides recognizing students was to get parents involved. This may work to our advantage. Let's give it our best shot.
I have for your perusual the honor roll list. The following is a list of things that need to be done.
Notify ROTC to have cadets post the colors.
Create a nice (keepsakes) printed program.
Decide what refreshments will be needed and who will serve them.
Prepare certificates for all honor students.
Prepare stage/auditorium decorations and set up.
Create parent newsletter.
Create mailing labels for honor student parents and labels for all students.
Mail congratulatory letters to parents.
Mail parent newsletters.
Sign-In sheets for parents who attend (documentation).
Mrs. Palmer has already accepted the newsletter creation.
